Curse of Curls part 2

Here it is!
Very odd name, but VERY GOOD!
Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream.
Haha! Every time I say it I have to laugh.
I bought mine at Walmart. I haven't seen it at Smiths yet... but maybe I didn't look hard enough...
My process is pretty simple. I USUALLY take a shower at night, apply it then, and SLEEP on it and then wake up and patch it up a bit. When I do that my curls seem bigger and really defined. I'm guessing thats because the curls arent being moved around, pulled or flung back.
But for this I decided to show you what it was like to do a more typical process.

1. As usual, wash and dry (http://thecurlyhairproblems.tumblr.com/cgmethod go to this website to learn about the Curly Girl Method)
2. COMB (not brush) and apply the product.
(it was my first time taking mirror pictures for a tutorial... so don't laugh. haha)

 3. Drying
I think this has a HUGE impact on how the curls turn out. I'd play around with a few techniques if you don't know how you like your curls yet.
I pin mine up and let it air dry.
But there are SO many options!
You can
-pin up and air dry OR blow dry
-leave hair down and air dry
-blow dry with or without a diffuser
- AND in high school I used to blow dry, but pull DOWN on the curls so there aren't some straight and some really curly parts of the curl. Come out more wavy.
Definitely try different techniques.

4. It's all dry! You can see in the picture that my hair (I think of a lot of people's curlies do this too) is so long and heavy that they top gets weighed down so it's pretty straight, but the ends are WAY curly because nothing is pulling on them. That is why I pin mine up so nothing is being pulled down. You can also avoid that with diffusing.
 Now style and GO!
The thing I love about the product is that the curls are DEFINED! My hair is way less frizzy, and my curls are staying together without being crunchy (blech) or sticky.
Also, this product smells AMAZING!
I hope you enjoyed my cheesy pictures. Especially this last one.... haha
Go buy your Not Your Mothers Kinky Moves Curl Defining Cream now! (That name... it's still killin me!)
And for you straight-haired people! There is a Not Your Mothers brand Sea Salt Spray that apparently gets you those "Beach waves' that everyone talks about. Can't leave my straight=haired followers with nothing ya know!
Good luck!

The Curse of Curls.

Curly Hair, is that a blessing, or a curse?
Honestly, depends on the day.
Some days I feel like a movie star (maybe a movie star from the 80's), and other days I feel like Captain Hooks doppelganger.

I'm beginng to realize what my mom went through when it came to MY hair when I was little, Tae is pretty curly herself. The day starts with some cute piggie or a ponytail, and by mid-day it looks like she stuck a fork in a socket.

This is me.
Don't tell me whether you think I'm cute or if you pity me. I don't want to know.
(spell the word clown with me.... M-A-R-L-Y-N, thank you)

This one is not so bad...
My poor mom. I mean, WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO?!
I didn't like to actually DO my hair, I'd rather be climbing a tree or eating ants!
So my mom kept it short. Easier to do, and ......... I dunno what else....

This is me in my sophomore year of high school. I think I learned to handle it pretty well. I'm obviously skipping on the puberty/awkward stage pictures. But I wouldn't put you through that.
(on a random note, someone stole that jacket and I WILL find you!)
Throughout my life I have tried many a hair product.
There ARE plenty out there! But... you never actually look like the girls in the commercials. That is probably because they are wearing makeup in the face wash commercials, they have photoshopped their skin like crazy in the lotion commercials, and I'm pretty FREAKING sure they don't actually have curly hair in the curly hair product commercials. And if they do then I would also like the hair dresser to come free of charge with the gel/mousse/syrum I just bought.
Can you tell that I'm passionate about this?
This fire is mostly fueled my many years of being called "bush", people sticking their pencils in my hair and trying to find them again, and being dissappointed every time I tried a new product.
Haha! My life really wasn't that sad. All of that really happened, but I got over it pretty fast, and I'm honestly not as crazy as I sound.

So, I've found it. IT. IT IT IT IT.
The only IT that has been close enough to be even considered and IT.
IT is the best-so-far curly hair product I've found yet!
It's a curl defining cream. And it honestly has the weirdest name.
So... come back for more pictures (possibly more embarrassing ones) and to find out the name of this tiny miracle I found at Walmart.

***ever since I typed the title to this post I've had this song stuck in my head. Let's make this a makeshift Music Monday. Listen here.***

Peppers, Crafts, Windows, and Fishies

Hello all.
I was able to get a picture of my cardiscarf!
A sly sly cardigan is hidden in that scarf!

Also I want to tell you about Valentines Day! Shane and I woke up and decided to skip class for the day. So we slept more and woke up and made crepes. It was so fun any yummy :D. Then we made our way over to Petsmart to buy our fishies! We now own 1 frog (febby) and 3 fish (jorge, mulder, and scully). We had our other frog die and our snail. But life moves on right? Haha. Then after work we went out to Le Nonne (a very nice Italian Restaurant!) It was such a fun and nice day!
Then my birthday was on Wednesday! Shane was so nice and got me lots of cute stuff! I wanted an old window from an antique store that I can fix up and make a cool craft idea I had, along with sandpaper, paint all that stuff in order to fix it up. He got me a very vintage wire bodice coat hanger! It sounds weird but its way cute haha! See!
We are going to plan our future home decor around this beauty!
I am so lucky to have Shaney. He is so cute and patient and so so so funny! I love him :)
Then after a long day of FUN, I chose to go to Firehouse Pizza for dinner, and when Shane and I walked in I was greeted to my SURPRISE party!!!! WOO! I've never had a surprise party in my entire life!!! It was so fun! Jaime, Peter, Andrea, Tina, Nicole, Megan and Chels were there! So we ate delicious pizza, cake and fazookies! Sooooo yummy! See! Shane's the best :) it was a fun fun birthday. Now I'm officially 20 years old!

As far as crafting goes, I'm proud to announce that I am getting very far along in a lot of my crafts! First, my window! Under the old old paint, there was this weird layer of plastic type stuff. It makes it hard for the paint to stay on the corners of the windows, but I've done all I can do. It'll end up looking good :)

My beard pillow plan is coming along nicely :). It takes a long time to make each "hair" but its coming along and soon I will start working on the girl's hair (my hair). Next step after that, sewing them onto pillow cases!

The other night Jaime and Peter came over and we made dinner for them! They usually make it for us (they are so nice haha poor guys) so it was fun to have them over! We made Stuffed Green Peppers!
I'm pretty sure everyone liked them :D, except Shane. He took a couple bites of "not quite cooked all the way" beef, and I didnt tell him of its status. So he had a tummy ache for a while. BUT he got better! :D

Thanks to Shane's friend Branigan, we have discovered more good music! The Tallest Man on Earth! Its pretty cool :) I like his voice live more however. So if you want click here and listen to one of my favorites.

Well I'm off to watch Jurassic Park with Shaney :)
Farewell all!

Adios :)

Cardiscarf.

It dawned on me yesterday that I lack color in my outfits. So while dressing in off-white, brown, blue jeans and grey boots, I decided to add a scarf! Scarfs always seem to work and they are so cute! Regrettably.. I only have a really bright rainbow scarf, and that is not exactly the look I was hoping for. As my eyes scanned my cluttered room floor (cluttered is an understatement), my eyes beheld my purple grandma cardigan I bought at TJ Maxx about a year ago. Hmmm.... purple would look really good with this! So, I held out the sleeves of my cardi, and whipped the body of the cardi around until it was all wound up. I placed this contraption I now call a Cardiscarf around my neck, tied it, and walked out the door to class.
I feel like a genius, so if you have heard of doing this before, don't tell me, cause I will feel bad. Haha!
Anyways, maybe I'll patent it.
I'll put pictures up later and update about my b-day and V-day!

buh-bye now!
